3D Stripe rug by Annike Laigo for NID

Dezeen Showroom: Estonian textile designer Annike Laigo has created a wavy, hand-tufted wool rug, which is available via online lifestyle store NID.

Named 3D Stripe rug, the floor covering is woven using a single colour of yarn but using different pile heights to create a playful 3D effect.

“I love to experiment, whether it is a new technique or material,” said Laigo. “The wavy relief surface brings a 3D element into traditional, two-dimensional rug design.”

“In my work, I focus on necessity,” she continued. “I prefer to design something that has both functional and emotional value.”
