KIT II coat rack by KANAMA for NID

Dezeen Showroom: Estonian design studio KANAMA has created a trio of oak and steel coat hooks called KIT, which is available via online concept store NID.

KIT stands for Keeping in Touch and comes as a single, wall-mounted hook or a stand with either two or three hooks.

“The coat rack reminded me a bit of an antenna mast and the hallway is a place for both receiving guests and sending them away,” said KANAMA founder Oliver Kanniste.

Kanniste wanted to turn an often-overlooked furniture piece into a minimalist feature in the home. The hooks are angled to hold jackets, coats and shirts so that they air out properly and don’t get wrinkled.

“The way to innovate is to rethink the problem with playfulness and create the game rules on the go,” added the designer.

NID is an online concept store that offers sustainable homeware and lifestyle products that are informed by the Nordic aesthetic and way of life.
