The chair features a clean, minimalist design with a generous, curved seat and backrest and the option to include midcentury-style armrests.
“The goal [was] to achieve a level of comfort with a solid wood seat and back so that no upholstery is needed, maintaining the pure lines and the expression of a single material purposefully arranged,” said Morrison.
Jasper Morrison designed the Fugu furniture collection for Maruni
A matching low table, made either from solid oak or pale ash, features a round top offset against four stubby legs.
With its inviting, expansive surfaces, the Fugu series is designed both for homes and public spaces such as receptions or waiting rooms.
It forms part of Maruni‘s wider 2020 collection, which also includes a dining table and chair designed by Naoto Fukasawa, with legs resembling the sinuous lines of octopus tentacles.
